TeleCommunication Systems (TCS), a provider of wireless communications, has received a three-year, $5.9m contract incrementally funded at $2m from the Defense Information Technology Contracting Office (DITCO) to provide the US Army Central Command (CENTCOM) with space segment for its Afghanistan operations. CENTCOM is funding this procurement through GSA’s SATCOM II contract vehicle.
Through TCS’ Government Solutions Group, the company said that it offers end-to-end managed services for converged (IP-based) voice, video and data services to organisations that require connectivity between fixed sites and remote operations. The Managed Satellite Services offerings include private, shared and outsourced network management through its global network, owned and operated satellite teleport infrastructure, SwiftLink Operation Centre and global field service force.
TCS also provides fixed and deployable remote satellite communications terminals. TCS’ SwiftLink VSAT systems provide multimedia communications capabilities which convey encrypted voice, video and data.
Jay Icard, vice president of government solutions group at TCS, said: TCS is pre-positioned to make this managed bandwidth available to CENTCOM in support of its military objectives. We look forward to fulfilling CENTCOM’s future managed bandwidth needs as well as the broader SATCOM needs of the other U.S. military branches.
