Singapore SoundBlaster king Creative Technology Ltd, now moving into graphics, says Intel Corp’s newly launched Pentium MMX processor (CI No 3,074) would not damage sales of its SoundBlaster board. Analysts have expressed concern that the MMX chip, which supports multimedia functions, including voice and audio data processing, would threaten Creative’s SoundBlaster. The company said the quality of the MMX music will not be able to match the advanced dedicated music synthesis AWE32 and AWE64 chips on Creative Technology’s Sound Blaster audio products. But the company said it supported the MMX technology, especially for videoconferencing.
