Even all the big names that have recently signed for its VisiBroker object request broker won’t push Visigenic Software Inc into profit for some considerable time, proving just how long and drawn out this object business is. Analysts surveyed by First Call don’t expect the company to break even until its third fiscal quarter ends next December, even then it will be trailing red ink for its full 1998 fiscal year. Visigenic yesterday reported fourth quarter loss of $2.1m up from a loss of $0.7m last time – slightly more than analysts had forecast – on revenue up 142% at $5.5m over $2.3m last year. The operating loss was slightly worse at $2.22m. For the year, the company lost $20.3m, up from $4.4m last time, on revenue up 205% at $17m from $5.6m in 1996. Licence revenue was up 108% at $4.28m, consulting and services netted $1.2m from $0.2m last time. it has $19.4m cash.
