Iterated Systems Inc is steering its fractal compression system in yet another direction – the video-based Intranet. The Norcross, Georgia-based firm has secured an deal for its ClearVideo software with on-screen publishing software firm, Ion International Ltd, which installs internal video-based news systems in companies like petrochemical giant, British Petroleum Plc. Iterated originally announced plans to venture on to the Internet and develop fractal products for still pictures and video one year ago (CI No 2,826). Ion has Iterated’s still image kit in its E*News system and its programmers are working ClearVideo in. Ion will be reselling Iterated’s Fractal Imager product and ClearVideo. Iterated’s licensing of the compression libraries costs $1,500 for up to 1500 inclusions of the software. It confirmed the intranet has become a larger focus for its work and while Ion is the first solid deal, two more are due in time for next month’s Milia International Publishing and New Media Markets Conference, in Cannes.
