CompuServe Corp has lost a key executive that was at the center of the company’s regrouping last year. VP online services Scott Kauffman resigned late last week from the Columbus, Ohio company to join ClickOver Inc, the Palo Alto start-up that has software to track viewers of advertising on the web. Kauffman was head of the company’s short-lived Wow! family-oriented service until that was closed after just 10 months in January this year (CI No 3,048). The company’s flagship CompuServe Information service (CSi) and Wow! made up the online services division and after Wow! was closed Kauffman was charged with restructuring the division which then comprised CSi alone. CompuServe said it has not started looking for a replacement yet for Kauffman, but intends to. Majority owner H&R Block Inc is still trying to sell its 80% interest in CompuServe. America Online Inc is still thought to be the principal suitor.
