Nitro PDF Software has released an update for Nitro PDF Professional Version 6. The new feature in Version 6.0.1 is the inclusion of PDF-to-Excel technology, previously only available as part of Nitro’s PDF to Excel online service.

According to Nitro, the new feature allows users to create editable XLS files, allowing for re-use of tables and spreadsheets from PDF files in Microsoft Excel, OpenOffice, Google Docs, and WordPerfect.

In addition, the new release also includes enhanced scan-to-PDF functionality, with the introduction of an improved TWAIN library that provides support for scanners with automatic document feeders, and multi-page and double-sided documents.

Sam Chandler, CEO of Nitro, said: Following the enormous success of our free online service, PDF to Excel, it was a logical next step to introduce this popular feature within our flagship product. PDF and XLS are de facto business standards when it comes to electronic documents, and now users of Nitro Pro can take advantage of our industry-leading conversion, in-program.

“This, along with the newly-upgraded scanning capabilities, fortifies Nitro’s position as the most cost-effective and fully-featured desktop PDF solution for business.
