NCR Corp and SAS Institute Inc are teaming up to integrate their products for a combined push into data warehousing. Under the terms of the agreement, NCR will become the first reseller of SAS products and services – until now the company has always sold its software direct. The two firms will combine SASs data management software and data mining, data extraction and transformation tools into NCRs data warehouse offerings to extend the capabilities of the NCR’s Teradata-derived data warehouse engine. Customers should see a reduction in system integration and implementation times. NCR will start selling and integrating the SAS products and services in January. NCR first announced that it would be integrating data mining tools from SAS with its management discovery tool services last May (CI No 3,155). As a result of the agreement, SAS will be NCRs lead integrated software tools partner, and the companies will integrate sales and support for all products and will work together on joint marketing projects. The agreement will be implemented on a worldwide basis, but will be introduced initially only in the US, before moving across to Europe and the Asia Pacific region.
