Apple Computer Inc consultant and proxy chief executive Steve Jobs makes his speech at MacWorld in Boston today in what is being billed as yet another key point in the troubled company’s history. On the agenda are said to be a number of items, but according to the San Jose Mercury news, plans were still in flux on Tuesday. Jobs is likely to discuss a Network Computer project codenamed Zephyr, a system said to run Macintosh programs and Java code, with wireless capabilities and a price tag of under $1,000. Also on the menu is new server technology to work with the new Network Computers. These servers could include Apple’s first Intel-based systems. Meanwhile, there are plans to license Apple’s QuickTime 3.0 video technology for multiple platforms, likely to be revealed at the Siggraph event in Los Angeles. Although Apple’s shares were on the rise with the news that Oracle Corp’s Larry Ellison was likely to join the board, the Mercury reports that Apple’s chief scientist for the last 17 years, Larry Tesler, has resigned to form a Palo Alto-based start-up writing software for children. Tesler was the first Apple employee to come from the Palo Alto Research Center.
