Broadbase Information Systems Inc says it has 25 customers evaluating its Windows NT-based datamart solution (CI No 3,182). It’s bundling the HyperParallel Inc data mining engine with its software but says it’ll work on top of other solutions, including DataMind Corp, where required. DataMind doesn’t have a strategy to supply its software as an embedded technology for third parties. Front-end tools come from Brio Technologies Inc. Broadbase Server, Administrator, Brio for Database, Data Mining and Web Access cost $50,000 on a single-processor Windows NT Workgroup Server system; $75,000 on a two- or three-way; and $100,000 on four CPUs or more. The company says it can support data sets of up to 100Gb in size – currently the largest NT-based decision support system is 100Gb – but figures its sweet spot will be between data marts between 20Gb and 30Gb in size. Andyne, Business Objects, Cognos, Id Centric, Seagate, Speedware and Sterling tools will all work with Broadbase. A Japanese language version is scheduled for the first quarter of next year.
