Sales force automation software organization Siebel Systems Inc is to acquire privately held Nomadic Systems Inc for $11m. Morris Plains, New Jersey-based Nomadic supplies business systems for the pharmaceuticals market and its product offerings will be incorporated into a new Siebel Pharma product line, launched simultaneously. Nomadic will continue to work from its offices in New Jersey but will become known as the Siebel Pharma business unit. It says it’s already won a number of key customers in the industry, including Glaxo Wellcome, Burlex Laboratories Inc and Hoffmann-LaRoche Canada. Less than a month ago Siebel announced its $15m purchase of Interactive Workplace Inc (CI No 3,249) signaling an extensive expansion plan. Siebel currently holds a 70% share of the sales force automation market, but now faces competition from Oracle Corp, which launched its new Oracle Sales and Marketing package last week.
