Digital watermarking company Digimarc Inc will introduce a free cut-down version of its flagship PictureMarc watermarking software called Personal Autograph Lite at this week’s Seybold show. This version will simply show the ‘circle in a c’ copyright symbol, the person’s name and the year. The full version, which costs $99 per year as part of the company’s MarcCentre package, gives more information about the copyright holder, including contact information. PictureMarc is an Adobe Systems Inc PhotoShop-compatible plug-in. The next version, 1.5.1 will be available this week as a download. The company has reduced the size of the watermark to 100 pixels square. The company’s other main product, the MarcSpider watermark search engine is also now available. It searches the Internet for locations where a person or company’s copyrighted material is being reproduced. It comes free with the $99 subscription. Portland, Oregon-based Digimarc is working on some copyright software for Digital Video Disks (DVD) with Macrovision, which should be out by the year end.
