The Millennium Bomb event that was planned to introduce the UK’s Year 2000 awareness week went off with a whimper rather than a bang on Monday, when the government’s Health and Safety Executive said it wasn’t ready to go public on the findings of a new report on the likely consequences, and canceled the press briefing. According to the Financial Times, a spokesman for the National Health Service is likely to report tomorrow that the problem could cost up to 500m pounds, and that patients could die it if is not fixed in time.
