Cementing a more than four-year relationship and furthering its push into Europe, Wall Data Inc has bought Dublin, Ireland-based Software Development Tools Inc, SDTI, and its related companies including Expert Edge Computer Systems for $3m. The two companies signed an agreement back in 1993 under which Wall Data licensed Expert Edge’s Application Bridge development tool for Windows and integrate it with its Rhumba personal computer to host communications product (CI No 2,285). Software Development has since cross-licensed Wall Data technology. Donal Daly, founder and chief executive of Software Development Tools says the two companies’ technologies and philosophies were completely in parallel, and the acquisition means they will integrate their products even more tightly in the future. SDTI develops graphical user tools and re-engineering tools for migrating systems from AS/400 to client-server systems. It is apparently SDTI’s Windows-based graphical front-end that Wall Data has integrated into its Rhumba PC to host product.
