Reports originating from the UK’s Computer Weekly, picked up by the Times, claimed that a $5bn lawsuit was being prepared against US personal computer manufacturers by a Californian law firm, over their lack of Year 2000 compliance. But the law firm in question, Hancock Rothert and Bunshoft, which has a Year 2000 practice group headed by Vido Peranio, has categorically denied the report. Peranio said it could not have been more wrong, an email was sent to Computer Weekly clearly explaining the position, which was 100% and a 180 degrees different to the story it wrote.
