Symantec has reported revenue of $1.53bn for the for the fiscal fourth quarter of 2010, an increase of 4% compared to $1.49bn for the same period last year. At constant currency revenue rose by 2%.
The company posted a gross profit $1.26bn, an increase of 8% compared to $1.16bn in the same period last year. Operating income was $247m, compared to an operating loss of $192m in the same period a year ago.
For the quarter ended April 2, 2010, the company reported a net income of $184m, compared to a loss of $264m in the same period a year ago.
For full year, the company reported net revenue of $5.98bn, a decrease of 3% compared to $6.15bn last year. Operating income was $933m, while net income was $714m.
James Beer, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Symantec, said: “Our business continues to deliver strong cash flow from operations, generating $1.69bn this fiscal year and $703m in the fourth quarter.
“The consumer business reported its sixth consecutive quarter of growth and our enterprise business was driven by strong sales of hosted services, data loss prevention, backup and archiving solutions.”
For the first quarter of fiscal year 2011, the company expects revenue to be between $1.48bn and $1.5bn, up 3-5% year-over-year on an actual and currency adjusted basis.
