CA said that it plans to offer Cross Enterprise Application Performance Management, a comprehensive offering to provide real time visibility into application performance across mainframe and distributed environments.

According to CA, the new offering combines Wily APM and SYSVIEW to offer deeper visibility into transactions across mainframe and distributed systems, and provide functionality designed to help customers detect and resolve application performance problems before they impact service levels or revenue streams.

The company said that the new offering helps overcome the issues of managing and troubling shooting applications that utilise a combination of mainframe and distributed infrastructure by integrating the real-time monitoring functionality of SYSVIEW with Wily APM’s application performance management capabilities.

Wily APM software provides support for managing mission critical applications running on distributed and mainframe systems, including z/OS and Linux on System z, and the ability to monitor transactions across these environments. The SYSVIEW provides insight into the performance of other mainframe resources such as IBM’s z/OS operating system, IBM CICS and IBM WebSphere MQ, and Datacom database, into a customisable enterprise dashboard, the company said.

In addition, SYSVIEW also provides CICS transaction tracing to help identify and isolate performance problems within the CICS Transaction Server; and map CICS transaction loads to applications, providing a global view of resource utilisation.

The company claims that by implementing cross platform APM offering, organisations can roll out new multi-tier applications and services with faster time to value and reduced cost of ownership.

Ajei Gopal, executive vice president of products and technology group at CA, said: As IT organisations have added multiple layers of technology to their environments, it has created complexity that makes it harder to identify and resolve application and transaction performance problems that affect critical business services. By spanning layers of mainframe and distributed systems, Cross Enterprise APM can enable IT organisations to cope with this complexity and deliver superior service levels to end-users.
