Ascend Communications has become the latest company to take Bristol Technology Inc’s Wind/U cross-platform development software (CI No 3,261) to port its NavisAccess network management application from Windows NT to Sun Solaris and HP-UX. Ascend says the port involved around half a million lines of code and took around six months to complete. NavisAccess is designed for managing carrier networks, internet service provider’s Points of Presence and enterprise networks and is shipping now for Windows NT, Sun Solaris and HP-UX.
