Three tier application development company, Forte Software Inc has launched the delayed Release 3.0 of its Forte Application Environment, the second phase in its strategy to integrate internet technologies into its software development tools. The release was originally due at the end of last year (CI No 3,034). The Oakland, California company says the new version adds Java integration through use of the IIOP Internet Inter ORB Protocol, when used in conjunction with the company’s previously launched Web Software Developers Kit. The Web SDK enables browsers to function as clients with access to application servers. Release 3.0 also adds support for ActiveX objects which can be embedded in Forte applications and Forte servers can now be called from Object Linking Embedding. The environment supports both Visigenic Software Inc’s VisiBroker object request broker and Iona Technologies Plc’c Orbix. Release 3.0 of the Forte Application Environment is available now with prices ranging from $4,000 to $6,000.
