Financial software and services outfit Meca Software LCC and Sun Microsystems Inc have been showing off jointly developed Java- based electronic financial transaction software. The two first started working together when Sun became involved with Innovision Corp and its internet trading software, and combined financial technology from Meca and a host of others, including BEA Systems Inc and Oracle Corp, to develop a Java and web-based retail banking and securities offering (CI No 3,188). At the Retail Delivery Show in New Orleans, Sun and Meca showed off personalized financial management interfaces which could be customized to provide financial information, services and features for individual customers, whose personalized reports could be sent to them over the web. Products to come out of the alliance will be based on industry specifications laid out for online transactions, including Open Financial Exchange. A product should be available for general release in the middle of next year.
