Atmel Corp has extended its worldwide network of companies with the acquisition of Helsinki, Finland-based Fincitec Components Oy, specialists in developing digital signal processing and analogue circuits. No figure for the acquisition was given but Atmel plans to expand Fincitec’s 15-strong staff with additional design engineers as demand grows. With an annual turnover of more than $1.0bn, San Jose, California-based Atmel currently has eight development centers and over 4,400 employees worldwide.
