Fujitsu Ltd plans to sell used semiconductors to US recycling firms for installation in game machines and electrical appliances, according to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun. Fujitsu plans to collect semiconductors from circuit boards in PCs and workstations that have reached the end of their leasing periods, and export them to three west coast recycling companies. The US firms provide used semiconductors to manufacturers of game machines and appliances and then dispose of the rest of the boards. Fujitsu also plans to expand into export of used Intel Corp parts. It targets exports of 30 tons of the circuit boards each year. Until now, Japanese semiconductor makers have dissolved used circuit boards to recover metal materials.
