Both Bay Networks Inc and Newbridge Networks Inc have turned to smaller firms to help fill out their network access product lines. Bay Networks Inc has turned to Landover, Maryland-based Yurie Systems Inc for its ATM access concentrators and ATM service access multiplexers which Bay will ship alongside its own products. The two companies announced they had signed a three- year agreement covering Yurie’s products aimed at network consolidation of various types of applications namely voice, video and data onto a single lower cost ATM facility. Meanwhile, Newbridge Networks says it is to resell LAN access products from Sonoma Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Retix Inc. Newbridge Networks will resell Sonoma’s LAN access platform that supports 10/100 Ethernet, Token Ring and FDDI connectivity to ATM. Configurations include DS3 (45 Mbps) ATM, E3 (34 Mbps) ATM and OC-3c/STM-1 (155 Mbps) ATM with both single mode and multimode fiber optic interfaces and Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, FDDI and Token Ring LAN connectivity.
