UK Web-to-mainframe access specialist Intelligent Environments Plc, has released the latest part of its Amazon 2.0 software, its Windows NT to mainframe connection server software, called Hyena. The software can support up to 500 concurrent IBM 3270 connections from a single NT server, with the client interface being a Java-enabled web browser. The Hyena server software is being sold separately to the full Amazon 2.0 developers kit, as it only supports simple ‘screen scraping.’ Intelligent environments claims that the Amazon 2.0 kit can be used to develop software that can submit and return, what would be complex multi-screen mainframe queries, and submit and return them all through a single web page. The software is shipping now, and costs $12,500 for a fifty user license per Windows NT server.
