Hewlett-Packard promises to ease enterprise concerns over cloud-based workloads with a triplet of software services that help validate and assess the reliability of cloud services.

Announcing HP Cloud Assure, the vendor said it would provide some much-needed visibility into the availability of enterprise cloud services by diagnosing and reporting on potential performance and security issues before they can impact the business service.

In Assure, a cloud security service would scan networks, operating systems, and web applications and carries out automated penetration testing. A cloud performance offering will test for bandwidth, connectivity and the quality of the end-user experience. And a cloud availability test would monitor web-based application business processes, identifying performance issues and analysing trends for continuing improvement.

“HP Cloud Assure offers a complete, enterprise-class application performance testing service to make sure your cloud providers meet end-user bandwidth and connectivity requirements and that the cloud applications scale to support peak usage. It also enables us to let your IT and business managers know what end users are experiencing.”

Assure is non-intrusive and does not require installation of any software or agents on the networks or servers where the applications reside.

The new offer is good for a range of cloud services, HP claimed, whether a business is using infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), platform-as-a-service (PaaS), software-as-a-service (SaaS), or some combination of the three.
