Microsoft Corp now says it expects to ship copies of Office 98 for Macintosh in the first half of 1998, before the PC version, which still has no firm release date. According to company officials, key product enhancements in the Mac version will include natural language extensions, designed to make the software easier to use. UK marketing manager for desktop applications, Jeremy Gittings, said he had no comment on hints from another Microsoft spokesperson that Office 98 would beta on January 6th next year. Gittings also vehemently denied reports that Office98 would have to be renamed because of delays, saying: I don’t know where people got that idea from. I think they must have been smoking something.
