Santa Clara, California-based Integra Technologies Inc says it is shipping a Novell Inc NetWare 386 3.11 Network Loadable Module version of its Oasas I Open Architecture Scalable Array System to its OEM customers and that they are ready with the RAID Level 5 disk array product. Oasas I is an SCSI-based RAID Level 5 software technology for redundant disk arrays, designed to be bus-independent. The version implemented as a NetWare Loadable Module provides servers with fault tolerance and higher subsystem performance by offering disk striping, error correction code checking and automatic error correction, giving users access to more storage at a lower cost than through RAID Level 1 or SFT Level II. It can perform background recreation of a failed drive without affecting performance too much. It takes up to 61.6Gb using off the shelf drives.
