Calidus Systems Ltd, the London SW1-based software house has launched a new distribution management system for the DEC VAX environment. Aimed at large nationally and internationally distributed companies, the Miracle Distribution system is modular and scalable, so that smaller warehouses within a corporation use only the size of system they need. Miracle Distribution was written in Cognos Inc’s PowerHouse fourth generation language and is based on DEC’s Rdb relational database. The product’s four basic modules are sales and purchase order processing, warehouse management systems and the radio data system. Miracle Financial Management comes as a separate set of modules. The system, which is plugged as being a distribution management package with added value, can among other features manage contract or third party distribution operations, where the movement of goods to and from a warehouse needs to be tracked. Miracle Distribution software is out now for between UKP25,000 and UKP250,000, depending on the package. A version to run under Unix will be ready within the next 12 months. Calidus’ first major order has just been signed with BP Exploration in the North Sea, which will use the system for material control, with 2,200 on-line users.
