Ericsson has received contracts from the three telecom operators – China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom to provide fixed broadband access.
Reportedly, the three telecom operators are upgrading their networks to provide voice, broadband and high-definition IPTV services to subscribers in Anhui, Guangdong, Hebei, Heilongjiang, Hubei, Liaoning, Shandong, Shanghai and Sichuan provinces.
For these projects, Ericsson is expected to roll out FTTH networks, using broadband fibre-access technology (GPON or Gigabit Passive Optical Network) and its patented air-blown fibre technology, to cater to all three operators.
The company said that it would also provide an array of other services including competence development, network design and optimisation, support services and consultancy.
