Bradford-based Microvitec Plc is to merge its open systems, networking and communications distributor, Logitek Distribution, acquired in a hostile take-over last year (CI No 1671), with its sister technical services company, Wigan-based LTSS. The new organisation will trade under the Logitek name and answer to Robert Adams, now group marketing director, and formerly managing director of Logitek Distribution. This latest move comes after six months of reorganisation at Logitek, and the merger of LTSS with Vitec Communications earlier this year. Microvitec says that economies of scale will be achieved this year and that the new-look Logitek will achieve turnover of UKP35m. Logitek had shed 50 out of 350 staff by September, and duplication of function may lead to some more redundancies.
