DEC Germany has won a order with the Debis Systemhaus GmbH, a subsidiary of Daimler-Benz AG for 14 fast packet networking systems to be placed in 14 cities and controlled from the cities of Sindelfingen and Worth. The systems are being sourced from Campbell, Californiabased StrataCom Inc DEC has a worldwide distribution agreement with StrataCom of which it owns 10%. The network will be implemented during 1991 and represents the first step towards consolidating networks from the different divisions of Daimler-Benz. It is based on the E1 IPX fast packet bandwidth management system from StrataCom, designed to make optimum use of the 2Mbps digital lines. Digital is designing, installing and servicing the network, which will implement the frame relay standard that was agreed by DEC, StrataCom, Northern Telecom Ltd and Cisco Systems Inc.
