P&P Plc’s Corporate Systems division has acquired ICI Plc’s computer dealer ICI Computer Systems Ltd for UKP2m as part of a major deal between the two companies, which positions P&P as ICI group’s strategic supplier of personal computer and workstation equipment and related services. The partnership is expected to be worth in excess of UKP10m per annum. The pact with ICI is the first in a series of strategic partnerships the loss-making P&P Corporate Systems division hopes to make with large Eur-pean businesses. For the last six years, P&P and ICI Computer Systems have been ICI’s main source of desktop computer systems; under the new contract, the activities will be handled by a newly-formed P&P business unit headed by P&P managing director Howard Spurr. The new division will be responsible for personal computer and workstation supply and value-added services, the latter, as reported, now being a key focus for the company (CI No 1,855).
