When Apple said last summer that it would build Adobe’s Type 1 font technology into a future release of the Mac operating system, some people wondered if this meant TrueType would become superfluous. However, Apple has confirmed to Microbytes that TrueType will be the design centre for its next gen-eration of type and imaging capabilities – users can choose either TrueType or Type 1.
