IBM Corp’s AdStar unit in San Jose has won a significant OEM contract for its 9570 RAID-5 disk array from Cray Research Inc, which is also taking a specially designed version of the 3.5 IPI2 Enhanced Intelligent Peripheral Interface Model 0664 drive. The 9570 R5 is claimed to be capable of sustained data rates in excess of 60M-bytes per second over a HIPPI High Performance Parallel Interface and stores up to 232Gb.Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
