Network Equipment Technologies Inc, Redwood City, California has signed a distribution, service, and technology transfer agreement with Datacraft Asia, covering the Asia-Pacific markets. Through the deal, Network Equipment hopes to target public carriers throughout the region with its products. The technlogy transfer alliance will see Network Equipment incorporating Datacraft’s Network Terminating Unit into its Integrated Digital Network Exchange products. The Network Terminating Unit is said to provide a network link with maximum aggregate speed of 128Kbps from asynchronous data inputs up to 38.4Kbps and synchronous inputs up to 128Kbps, while up to eight Network Terminating Units can be installed on an IDNX. This, the company says, will make the enhanced product particularly suitable for public carriers to install on their backbone networks. Network Equipment says that the enhanced IDNX will be available next year, although it would not give precise dates. Simultaneously, the company announced a strategic deal with Changsha Telecom Bureau, said to be the largest telecommunications provider in the Hunan Province of China. The company has released few details about the scale of the order (and has not given its value) but it says that through it Datacraft will implement a high speed, high capacity digital data network aimed at industrial and commercial operations in the provide. The network will be based on Network Equipment IDNX nodes.
