Link Technologies Inc of Fremont, California is shipping two new alphanumeric Windowing products, the colour WT80 and monochrome WT6 AlphaWindow terminals: also, the company is teaming up with JSB Computer Systems Ltd, Macclesfield in a strategic marketing alliance; Link and JSB are offering AlphaWindow Appraisal Kits which include Link’s WT80 or WT6 AlphaWindows terminals, bundled with a personal computer-style keyboard, mechanical mouse and JSB’s MultiView Mascot software; the kits support five Unix systems – System V.4, Santa Cruz Unix, SunOS, HP-UX and AIX and enable users to test-drive AlphaWindows hardware and software in their existing application environment; for users that don’t need the processing power of a personal computer or the complexity of an X Window terminal, the AlphaWindow terminals and software provides the same look and feel of windows-based graphical user interfaces on an Alphanumeric terminal; the WT80 and WT6 terminals provide up to six simultaneous sessions running on any host equipped with an AlphaWindows-compliant Windowing Manager; the WT80 has a 14 colour screen with eight foreground and eight background colours and the WT6 includes a 14 monochrome screen available in amber, green or white; the WT80 costs $1,000 and the WT6 is $700; for a limited time, the kit, including a single-user version of JSB’s MultiView Mascot software, a keyboard and mouse, comes bundled with the WT80 and the WT6.
