IBM Corp has turned to Candle Corp, Los Angeles to extend its SystemView distributed systems management concept to the AS/400 – covering both AS/400s networked with MVS mainframes and stand-alone networks of AS/400s. The Candle products will be based on what the company calls Candle Technologies and describes as its strategic foundation for Candle’s systems management products for both MVS mainframes and now the AS/400. SystemView, introduced in September 1990, is IBM’s framework for providing enterprise-wide systems management through the integration and automation of systems management applications for hardware and software from IBM and other vendors. When connected to MVS, the system will tie in with Candle’s Omegacenter for MVS.
