AT&T Co’s NCR Corp has a new System 3000 Model 331 Multimedia Learning Station, designed to be used as an on-line business training and education system for large NCR customers, such as retailers, that need to train new employees frequently: the 3331 uses Windows 3.1 and the processor is anything from an 80486SX to an 80486 DX2 and is designed to combine graphic images, animation and Intel Corp’s Digital Video Internation technology, which supports playback of more than an hour of video from a single CD-ROM; the NCR 3331 comes standard with a 256-colour palette at 1,024 by 768 resolution; it includes MPC-compatible stereo audio, including 16-bit sampling and playback and a Yamaha Co YMF262 20-voice stereo synthesiser; prices start at about $5,300.
