AT&T Co is reportedly negotiating a major flat-panel joint venture with a Japanese partner, possibly Matsushita Electric Industrial Co: the leader of the project is said to be Web Howard, a flat-panel expert who recently left IBM Corp under IBM’s early retirement programme; the newdisplays would be made in the US.
