Keyfile Corp has a new document management package that runs under Windows and the company says that an OS/2 version will be follow next year: the software has smart icons that represent in and out boxes, filing cabinets, facsimile machines, and other folders; the program enables users to drag icons and drop them into other icons to perform an action, and it can scan messages, determine who should receive them according to specific keywords, and automatically route them; one smart icon called the Keyfiler can perform a sequence of tasks automatically, and to customise a Keyfiler icon, icons representing the required functions are dragged onto the Keyfiler; it can extract text from a document via OCR, create an automatic list of keywords for the document, file it or and fax to a distribution list; the Jobmaker function can like route a single document to several people or request a response from another person on the network based upon a document’s contents, then forward the document to designated users; Keyfile costs $1,000 in a single-user version, a workgroup version for two to eight is $2,000 plus $1,000 per user, the OS/2 version for more than eight is $5,000.
