Menlo Park, California-based AddStor Inc and Matsushita Electric Industrial Co Ltd of Osaka, Japan, have announced that the new version of AddStor’s personal computer compression software program, SuperStor 2.0, will be incorporated into a new family of Panasonic notebook computers later this year; SuperStor 2.0 enables compressed data to be written to floppies, personal computers that do not run SuperStor can receive compressed files and then read and save the data in its expanded form, and a new compression mode can create extra capacity by shrinking data that is already compressed; the new tool set enables MS-DOS-based users to manage their data better and increase system performance; SuperStor 2.0 costs $140, and upgrades are $30.
