South Korea’s electronics giants, Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, Goldstar Co Ltd and Daewoo Electronics Co Ltd expect combined sales to rise 20% to $21,700m next year from this year’s estimated $18,000m; exports are projected to increase to $13,500m in 1994 from $11,400m this year, Reuter reports Seoul; Samsung, the largest, released preliminary figures showing it doubled net profits this year to $185.2m on an estimated $10,000m sales; chip exports are expected to rise 69% to an estimated $2,700m this year; Goldstar said its preliminary figures showed this year’s net profit to be $74.1m, up 150%; sales were $5,400m; Daewoo said net profits were some $25.9m, up about 25%, on sales that it estimated at $2,530m.
