International Microelectronic Products Inc of San Jose, California and Seeq Technology Inc have signed a wafer fabrication foundry agreement and announced their intention to co-develop submicron CMOS semiconductor manufacturing processes: the joint announcement represents the final stage of Seeq’s two-year strategy to outsource all wafer fabrication, and the company has relationships with two other foundry partners; although no date has been set, Seeq believes that it will cease manufacturing operations in its San Jose silicon fab by April 1992; it intends to retain engineering employees involved in the development of its CMOS process, but anticipates that about 60 workers will be made redundant.
