In the UK, Netwise Inc’s Netwise International has gone into liquidation: accountancy firm Geoffrey Pollard & Co, is holding a creditors meeting in the Londoner Hotel, W1, at noon today; the Wokingham, Berkshire-based company, which ceased trading on Valentines Day, is the European arm of Boulder, Colorado-based Netwise Inc, developer of the remote procedure call distributed computing technology used by Sun Microsystems Inc among others, in its Open Networking Computing system; according to insiders, the US firm is planning to open an office Crowthorne, Buckinghamshire, under the name Netwise UK Ltd; it will be a three-person country arm of a Netwise Europe, planned to be based in Holland; employees and other creditors owed thousands of pounds see the move as a cynical device to evade debts.
