Few signs of recession at Hewlett-Packard Co, which yesterday reported 49% growth in net profit, a 56% increase in operating profits and a 13% increase in turnover for the quarter to January 31. Orders grew by 13% over the first quarter of fiscal 1991. Equipment sales and services in the US grew 13% to $1,700m, in the rest of the world by 14% to $2,200m. US orders were up 15%, foreign by 12%.The company says it remains cautious in its outlook because of continuing economic difficulties in the US and slower growth in some key foreign markets.
