No confirmation, but gossip on the Internet has it that Texas Instruments Inc has trademarked the term Transputer: such a development, as well as being outrageous, would be totally unbelievable were it not the fact that Iann Barron’s original creation prior to Inmos International Ltd was Computer Technology Ltd, whose Modular One minicomputer is fondly remembered still by at least some of its users – but in middle age, Modular One suddenly had to become CTL Series 8000, because now long-defunct US display terminal builder Hazeltine Corp came out with a line of VDUs that it called Modular One, and Computer Technology, a child of flower power, Swinging London and Union Jack carrier bags, had never thought to register or trademark the name…
