The French subsidiary of Electronic Data Systems Corp, EDS-GFI, has announced the signing of a seven-year systems management agreement with la Compagnie Generale Maritime SA on undisclosed terms: EDS-GFI takes over operation of Maritime’s existing information system and commits to converting it to an open architecture and 60 informaticiens from the shipping will get specific training at EDS-GFI, whereupon they will be integrated into the staff at EDS-GFI Normandy, based in Havre; EDS says the contract combined with last year’s deal with trucking company Mory-TNTE, gives the company a leading role in the European transport industry; in the first half of 1993, EDS-GFI signed some $90m in facilities management contracts, including all industrial sectors, compared with only $61m in the first half 1992, said EDS-GFI chief executive Jacques Tordjman,
