Matra Communication SA says that Paris hospital group La Pitie-Salpetriere de l’Assistance Publique has chosen it to install an ISDN network in a contract worth approximately $1.8m: the network, comprising 16 Matracom 6500 switches linked by an ensemble of 48 2M-bit private digital connections, can support 8,000 stations, which communicate with the public network via 23 IDSN connections; it features 14 operator positions, equipped with PC Matracom 3150 workstations, an interactive Matracom 3110 voice server and a viewdata server; the network is expected to be in operation in December; the 2,300-bed hospital, which features nearly every medical and surgical discipline, employs some 7,000 people.
