Business intelligence vendor Jaspersoft has updated its flagship analytics suite to support more Big Data sources.
Jaspersoft 4.5 also features new capabilities that the company says will help non-technical users gain a better understanding of the analytics platform.
These features include drag-and-drop functionality, which Jaspersoft says will help users to build their own reports and analyse data from relational, OLAP, and Big Data sources.
On the Big Data front, Jaspersoft says the new platform features an improved analysis user interface and access to non-relational data sources such as Hadoop HBase and MongoD.
Jaspersoft 4.5 can connect to these sources natively, which bypasses the need SQL interface, making the process of analysing these data sources much quicker, the company said.
"Jaspersoft 4.5 is a critical milestone for our customers. We now proudly deliver a complete reporting and analysis solution for all types of data," said Karl Van den Bergh, VP, product & alliances at Jaspersoft in a statement.
"The solution provides significant performance improvements and even more flexibility in reporting capabilities. It also supports our vision to make BI more pervasive, bringing better decision-making capability to users across the organisation," he added.
"Every business has different requirements and challenges for analyzing and presenting data, especially as the size of datasets becomes bigger and more varied. Jaspersoft’s latest release is unique in accessing different types of data with more sophistication than other BI platforms in the market," said David Menninger, VP and research director at Ventana Research.
