Hungaria Telecom Ltd has filed for bankruptcy after its failure to obtain a radio telephone frequency licence from the Supreme Court: the company was set up in 1989 to establish and operate such a system, but its demise means that Hungarian-US estel Radio Telephone Ltd (which was established at the same time) now has a monopoly on such a service; the company is owned 50% by Centroinvest, with Coopinvest, Technika, BRG, ex-Industry Minister Laszlo Kapolyi and private entrepreneur Zsolt Harsanyi each holding 10%; the licence application was refused because new Industry Minister Csaba Siklos said that state ownership in the company did not reach the required minimum of 51%.
