According to internet research firm Experian Hitwise, Britons will spend 350m hours shopping online this holiday season.

The firm has released data in a report entitled ’12 Insights of Christmas’, which includes trends in online shopping for December.

Cyber Monday (December 5) will be the UK’s biggest pre-Christmas shopping day online with an expected 85 million visits to ecommerce websites from UK consumers, which is an 18% increase compared to last year.

This holiday season will see Hull having the largest number of online shoppers in UK, the report adds.

Lego, particulalyr Lego Star Wars games and sets, will be the most searched for toy this Christmas and December 19 will have the largest online buyers for groceries this December.

Facebook will touch a new high in UK, with people collectively spending 25m hours on the site on Christmas Day alone and iPhones will sell 33% more than iPads this Christmas, Experian Hitwise adds.

December 23 will see retailers receiving the maximum traffic from email.

Experian Hitwise Marketing Research Analyst James Murray believes Christmas 2011 looks set to be another record-breaker for many of the online sectors and particularly for retail.
